What is Hojicha?

Hojicha tea originated in Kyoto, Japan, in the 1920s. This Japanese green tea is known for its reddish-brown colour and distinctive roasted aroma. Hōjicha leaves are dry-roasted at high temperatures, producing a rich, nutty, and earthy flavour, perfect for tea enthusiasts seeking a calming, soothing brew. It’s also known to be rich in antioxidants and supports digestion from the loose green tea leaves.

From a traditional Japanese tea, to being bottled up with Dots of love with the perfect blend of rhubarb and lychee purées, topped with aloe vera pieces, it’s here for everyone to enjoy.

What is Genmaicha?

Genmaicha tea is a 100% Japanese, organic tea made with green tea’s grassy notes and the toasty aroma of roasted rice. It’s often playfully nicknamed “popcorn tea” because a few grains of rice pop during the roasting process! Our Lemon Ginger Genmaicha craft bubble tea is crafted with premium, organic Sencha green tea, blended with roasted wholegrain rice, lemon purée and ginger, topped with aloe vera pieces for a unique and elevated tea-drinking experience!

This organic tea is grown in the award-winning plantation mountains of Shizouka, where the perfect climatic conditions exist for growing and harvesting high-grade green teas. Surrounded by clean air, pure water, and far from any industrial activity or pollutants, it’s the perfect environment for Genmaicha to flourish: cool, misty mornings and evenings, paired with warm days ideal for growing organic teas.

How is Jasmine tea made?

As the fresh jasmine flowers open in the evening, high-quality green tea leaves are laid over the flowers to absorb their scent and essential oils. The tea and flowers are left together overnight so the tea leaves can fully absorb jasmine’s natural, aromatic fragrance. For premium jasmine tea leaves, repetitive layering, resting, and drying cycle over several consecutive nights is required. The mixture must also be gently baked or dried to prevent spoilage, as the flowers add moisture to the tea leaves.

This partnership is so important to us. It’s our way to give Dots of Love to tea lovers everywhere.
