On 24th March, we officially launched our better-for-you Lychee Rose and Mango Passionfruit Bubble Teas in Marugame Udon stores across London. Marugame’s Sakura Sets are back by popular demand, this time, making its appearance with Dot Dot, so everyone can savour a rich umami Salmon Miso Bowl with our refreshing, fruity bubble teas (a match made in heaven! 😍). This collaboration is very special to us, as we honour our Asian culture by championing Japan’s largest udon chain and joining dots between food, community, and tradition. Dot Dot x Marugame is the perfect pairing to mark the sakura season, as it's been thoughtfully matched to celebrate Hanami together.
What is Hanami?
Hanami translates to ‘flower-viewing’; it’s a popular activity in Japan to welcome the spring season when sakura trees (cherry blossoms) start to bloom. More and more people enjoy gathering under the cherry blossom trees to have a picnic or a meal together with friends, family or colleagues, to simply enjoy the present and appreciate spending time together while admiring the beautiful scenery.
Sakura is the first sign of spring, symbolising new beginnings and rebirth. These small, delicate, pink flowers have a significant importance to the Japanese culture, being its national flower, but also symbolising the value of the present time, as the sakura bloom is short-lived (they only bloom once a year in spring, typically from late March to early May). It signals renewal and the fleeting beauty of life celebrated through Hanami.

And of course… we couldn’t launch our partnership without a grand ol’ party! On Friday 27th March, we hosted an exclusive, invite-only launch party with Marugame Udon, inviting a number of our incredible community - Dotties!, Marugame Club Members, and friends in the industry to celebrate this special milestone together.
We had Marugame’s very own Udon Master do a udon masterclass demonstration for all to learn from, our very own Susie Bubble shared the Dot Dot journey and the story behind the cherry blossom season. We feasted on tasty Sakura-inspired specials, including pink prawn and egg tempuras, delicious Udonuts, and Dot Dot bubble teas on tap all night! Watch the highlight reel here 🎥.
